That's my boy

It is so funny how different your kids can be. Gabe is known at school as the kid in kindergarten that rarely eats the snacks that the other kids bring. He is an extremely picky eater...thank goodness for multi-vitamins. The kid also has a gag reflex that is out of this world. If he smells a food that he doesn't such as exotic smells like bananas or hot grease... he often has to exit the room quickly as he starts to gag.

Then there is Jacob who is happy to eat or at least try just about anything. Tonight he helped me bbq some salmon and he devoured it. On Saturday he was so excited that I bought sushi. The last time we bought it he asked for some and loved it. ...(it isn't real sushi - everything is cooked but still a bit of a stretch for a 4 year old...I wouldn't touch the stuff until I was in my late 20's) I will admit that on Sat after eating a couple of pieces he fessed up that he didn't like the seaweed in the roll and asked if he could take it out. Ok, I guess so.

That's my boy! He was disappointed that I didn't have chopsticks for him to use also. Maybe next time buddy.

when the family goes bowling

After sustaining a bowling injury...seriously, have you ever heard of anyone getting hurt bowling? I pulled something in my elbow back in November the last time we ventured out to tame the lanes. On Saturday with the elbow finally not hurting and full range of motion returned I was feeling up to the challenge. The last outing I was beat by every member of the family...yes even Nate who is 2. It was a sad day for a guy who thinks he is pretty good at most everything he does. It was one of those days where you have to spray on a smile and make an attempt to join in while everyone else laughs at/with you.

So with revenge in mind, I set out to top the family as part of our celebration of Laurie's b-day. Yes, I was victorious...by two points over Laurie. I won't mention the score because lets just say, it wasn't something to be proud of. However, with Gabe opening the first three frames spare/strike/spare, bet your shorts I was sweating it early on.

Gotta love though the opportunities that we have to spend quality time with the family. Wouldn't pass up these types of chances for the world.

Nice form Jake!

The Christmas lights are still hanging proudly

Being the type that cheers the day the Christmas tree is taken down and the house morphs back to some semblance of normality, I am sad to say that I have yet to bring down the house lights. It is hard to believe that January is already well on its way and college football is over. Can't wait till next year to see how well the Cougars do after finishing the season ranked 14th and returning most of their starters next year. I guess that is about it...a boring post but I needed to do something while I sit home from work sick...back to cartoons with the kids.

First steps?

As we watched Nate attempt to take his first steps we, of course, had the camera running. Please note that no child was hurt in the making of this film...

Forecast says snow tomorrow night

Jake taking a little breather
you know what this is...

The Dogs...

Last year's litter...seven of the nine little pups. We did keep one...

I know...why doesn't someone come up with a spray to keep 'em that size.
